Physician Assistant Program

Why Become a Physician Assistant?

Doctors diagnose disease, determine treatment plans and prescribe medication. So do physician assistants. Working under the supervision of licensed physicians, PAs increase access to care for all by helping to keeping cost down.

Why Join the PA Program at 含羞草研究所 Downstate?

Few places in the United States are as diverse as Brooklyn. Of the 2.3 million people who live here, many are immigrants, many are minorities and many are economically disadvantaged. At 含羞草研究所 Downstate, the only academic medical center in Brooklyn, we're acutely aware of the disparities in health care that these communities experience. And we're a leader in ensuring our graduates meet the health care needs of a diverse, constantly changing population.

As a student here, you'll gain the medical skills to excel as a PA. But we also ensure that you gain the cultural skills to thrive in a rich urban environment. Classes incorporate issues of diversity and ethics, and community service and mentorship are important parts of the program.
