Background and Expertise:

Dr. W. Marcus Lambert is an Associate Vice President for Research and Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at 含羞草研究所 Downstate Health Sciences University. In his institutional leadership role, he leads efforts to expand the university's extramural research portfolio in areas of clinical, public health, and human subjects research.

Dr. Lambert co-leads several research training and workforce development initiatives at Downstate, including TRANSPORT, a $20 million endowment initiative focused on strengthening the pipeline of investigators conducting health disparities research.

His national service includes advisory and review roles focused on science leadership, research training, mentorship, and workforce development, including service with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the National Institutes of Health.

Research Interests:

Dr. Lambert鈥檚 research examines how mentorship systems, research training environments, workforce development pathways, and institutional infrastructure shape scientific careers and health equity outcomes. His research group uses quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, and network science approaches to study mentorship networks, biomedical and public health workforce development, community-engaged research, and the organizational conditions that support successful scientific careers.

Selected areas of focus include mentorship networks and the science of effective mentorship; biomedical and public health workforce development; research training systems and investigator development; community-engaged research infrastructure; and institutional strategies to advance health equity research.
