COM Student Wins Top White Coat Investor Scholarship for Inspiring Journey

Sara Yousef, a College of Medicine student, has received an important scholarship from The White
Coat Investor (WCI), a financial advice platform for physicians. This scholarship,
supported by the WCI community, assists medical students and reflects a commitment
to 鈥榩aying it forward.鈥� One of ten 2023 recipients, Sara received nearly $6K.
Sara鈥檚 award-winning essay in the 鈥淚nspiring Stories鈥� category vividly describes her family鈥檚 struggles as asylum seekers in Brooklyn, especially the financial difficulties they faced in obtaining healthcare, such as affording insulin for her diabetic sister. In her narrative, she underscores the significance of treating patients as individuals, not just their ailments.
