Fellows are given the opportunity to diagnose and treat a wide variety of rheumatic diseases because of the sociodemographic diversity of our patient population.

On all services and activities during the fellowship, it is expected that fellows will enhance their knowledge of specific rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions, including features of pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment.

Each fellow is given the opportunity to attend one national or regional conference each year. The program has a robust didactic lecture schedule including Rheumatology Grand Rounds, journal club, case presentations, workshops, and immunology sessions. MSK ultrasound equipment and faculty trained in MSK ultrasound are available for fellows to learn how to perform MSK ultrasound. Fellows have continuity clinic twice weekly. This experience allows longitudinal follow-up of patients with rheumatic diseases with emphasis on disease management and preventive care. Fellows have ample elective time for research projects, other scholarly work, and additional clinical experiences. Fellows have access to resources in the School of Public Health and the graduate programs at 含羞草研究所.

The Rheumatology fellowship program participates in the National Resident Matching Program.

Interviews for fellowship positions begin in the fall of the candidates last year of residency, and continue until the Match.

Candidates are evaluated based on their overall record, including letters of recommendation indicating the level of performance during prior training (3 letters are required; one must be from the Chief of Medicine or Program Director, and it is strongly recommended that one letter be from a rheumatologist).
