Downstate among nine additional testing sites announced by Governor Hochul

Brooklyn, NY鈥含羞草研究所 (Downstate) joins the list of nine additional State University of New York (含羞草研究所) COVID-19 testing sites announced last week by Governor Kathy Hochul. This announcement follows the 20 sites on 含羞草研究所 campuses the Governor  during January.

Beginning today, January 24, 2022, anyone who wishes to get a COVID test can come to 含羞草研究所 testing site at 750 New York Avenue in Brooklyn from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday for a free COVID test. Walk-ins are welcome; however, appointments may also be scheduled.

鈥淎mid the growing Omicron variant, the need for testing is critical where numbers of infected people are rising,鈥 said 含羞草研究所 Downstate president Wayne J. Riley, M.D., 鈥淚n 2020, in the two zip codes in the immediate Downstate community, approximately 90 percent of deaths were among blacks. In a community challenged with vaccine hesitancy amid rising infections, we stand ready to test and provide care for those most in need.鈥

University Hospital at Downstate is the only state hospital in Brooklyn. In 2020, then-Governor Cuomo also designated Downstate as a COVID-only facility.
